2 Chronicles 20:20
The call has gone out to believe in the Lord our God, so that we shall be established and to believe His prophets, so we will prosper. The Lord is our foundation and He will establish us in His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus said that His church is established upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets- the apostles doing the work of establishing while the prophets bring His direction to us. While we are rooted by the work of the apostles, the word of the prophet directs us into the way in which we shall prosper.

When the word of the Lord comes via His prophets, we need to determine whether that word is for us. 1Cor 14:29 tells us that the word must be judged. Once we have the witness that the word is for us, then we need to pay particular heed to it by noting the sign posts that are contained in the word. These sign posts assist us along the way to the fulfilment of the word which we can only accomplish by faith in the true and living God. So as we choose to believe in the word of the Lord by His prophets, our lives will begin to prosper as we follow His directions for the accomplishment of His word.

We need to pay the more earnest heed to what God is saying to us corporately as well as personally as we seek to be in His will at all times. We know that being in His will at all times will cause our way to prosper. We all want that in our lives but the condition is not making a simple confession that we are blessed, but that we believe His word to us by His prophets and actually taking time to ensure that we are walking in it thus keeping in His perfect will. How we live our lives and what we experience of God's grace depends entirely upon our response to His word by His prophets. Will we take heed today?

Isaiah 29:22-23
Are we waiting for God to do mighty works in our midst before we begin to sanctify His Name? What are we waiting on to fear His Name? The works that God wants to do , He wants to do through us. He will do nothing in this season without His church. So while we wait for Him to work , which is a ploy of the devil, He is waiting for us to make ourselves available to Him so that He can do mighty works on the earth. We note that the fear of the Lord brings about miracles and mighty works of God.

We need to know that He is a fearsome God and we must respect and honour Him. The problem is that we treat Him with scant courtesy and have no respect for Him and His house. We think that God understand s when we do not obey Him and His Word. He DOES NOT understand these acts and calls them what they really are- acts of rebellion and disobedience. We are so busy chasing down the things of the world that we are not God sensitive or God centred.

We do not recognise that all that we are and have is because of Him. He operates in so much grace towards us that we take Him for granted. But the mighty works are missing or taking place in small measure. We want the mighty demonstrations but are not willing to pay the price to be the ones thorough whom He will do them. God is still looking for a people who will truly be His people not just because they are washed in the Blood but because they are also demonstrating His mighty power in signs and wonders. Let us begin to seek Him in a new way that we may truly be a peculiar people in the midst of this generation.

1 Timothy 6:11-12
As people of God we are encouraged to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. All these attributes have already been added to us when Holy Spirit comes to live within us. So why do we have to pursue them? Just as a baby is born with all that is necessary to develop into an adult, so we need to develop these attributes which were planted in us by Holy Spirit. We can either submit our lives to Holy Spirit and develop into the God man that God has purposed or we can develop into the earth man that will miss God's purpose for which we were born.

When we thought that the struggle to live for God was just the attributes listed above, vs 12 tells us to get violent by actually fighting the good fight of faith. The devil has one plan and that is to kill our faith in God. We need to fight him back but the fight is a very subtle one. We resist the devil! Resisting talks about stand firm in spite of forces trying to push us back and over. What a warfare where we rest in Him while we battle as the battle is truly the Lord's. The battle is already won because He has the victory! In addition to fighting the fight of faith, we need to lay hold of eternal life. This gives the picture of grabbing on and not letting go in spite of what comes our way.

Is the enemy of our soul deceiving us into living below our godly heritage? We are encouraged to pursue, fight, lay hold of so that we will live a victorious and abundant life as we allow the life of God to flow through us in our every day lives. If we fail to do these activities then we will forego what God has intended to achieve in our development. Let us cooperate with Him in obedience and attain all that we are meant to be.

2 Kings 13: 14-19
Elisha was about to perform a prophetic act with King Joash which would have given him complete victory over his enemies. When God uses a prophet or some other means to guide us into our blessing whatever it is, do we do the acts whole heartedly as if we truly believed or we do them to a point as we feel foolish doing them?

Such was the case of King Joash. He shot the arrow which prophetically became the 'arrow of the Lord's deliverance' and the 'arrow of deliverance from Syria'. But the work was not yet done. The prophetic act continued in that the king had to take arrows and strike the ground. He struck the ground three times and stopped. The prophet lamented that the king should have struck the ground five or six times as he would have completely destroyed Syria. Instead the king will now only defeat the Syrians three times.

Have we cut short all that God intended for us by our failure to do our part? Have there been times when God has asked us to do various prophetic acts and we have not carried them out to the fullest extent. When we are told to shout, we barely open our mouth or when we are told to jump, we barely get off the ground. We need to go to the full extent of prophetic acts so that what God had intended will happen. While we may regret what has happened in the past, let us not repeat the same mistake in the future. It is better to do more than to do less. Let us experience all that God has for us and not fall short because of our own doing.

2 Kings 1: 15-16
Elijah was God's man at the time and when God wanted to say something to His people, He will use Elijah to say it. When people wanted to enquire of God, they will come to Elijah and he will enquire of God for them. God has placed His church on earth to carry on the same role. Within the church, He has put various gifts for the very same reason so that His people will know what He is saying and that they may enquire of the Lord. The sad thing today is whether we have confidence in the church as being God's voice today. This is the same thing that happened in our scripture reading.

God spoke to the king and asked him 'Is it because there is no God in Israel to enquire of His word that you have sent to enquire at other gods?' Can God address the same question to us? Are we guilty of doing the same thing that King Ahaziah did? Sadly we stand guilty before Him. We have sought out answers and direction from other gods who are no gods because we either do not have confidence in the church or because we know what is the correct thing to do and know that God will tell us the same but we do not want it.

What is your cause today? Do you truly believe that He has your best in His mind and that He will move heaven and hell just for you, if you really wanted His will? Most of us do not believe that. The devil has subtly moved us away from the faith that will move mountains to a faith in what we see around us. Our reality is not what God wants but in what we want which is informed by what we see. God has not left us without a means of hearing His voice. Are we willing to stir up our faith and do mighty exploits for our God or will we keep going around in circles seeking out other gods and finding the way hard.
