Mark 13:5-6Jesus is warning us today that we do not allow any man to deceive us. So many times we are taken with the ministry of men that we forget that it is Holy Spirit that is working in them to bring the mighty revelations and do the mighty works that we see. Too many times we glory in knowing them personally rather than glory in the God who is the source of all the mighty demonstrations that we witness. We will make special efforts to be in their meetings, get their latest books and watch their television programmes rather than making the effort to know directly what God is saying to us, that we may fulfil His call on our lives and finish the work He has called us to do. If we fail to fulfil all that God has called us to accomplish, we will have allowed men to deceive us.
Each one of us has a call of God upon our lives and while we serve in a church and support its vision, we need to know what God is saying to us in the fulfilment of that call. We cannot afford to put aside what God has called us to do and run with the instructions of someone else. We need to hear God and do what He has called us to do which will not be in contradiction to the vision He has placed us in as the vision is being guided by Holy Spirit. I firmly believe that some of the greatest manifestations of God's miraculous power does not have to come from the leaders of the church as Holy Spirit using us in this manner has nothing to do with leading the church. There are others who are gifted to lead the church.
There are those who will come with strange doctrines which have no scriptural basis and deceive those who worship them more than God. Jesus has already warned us that they will come saying that they are Christ. They will do signs and wonders too as no one will follow them if they do not demonstrate some miracles. We need today to know the true and living God so that we will not be deceived. We need to be grounded in His word that we will not be deceived by wrong doctrines and incorrect interpretations. We are warned that many will be deceived so we need to take heed that we are not among them. Let us test the spirits and not be fooled by those who will say to us that this is the new way. God is revealing Himself in new ways but there is only one way and that is Jesus Christ. Let us take heed!

Habakkuk 3:19Habakkuk was declaring that the Lord God was his strength. David also had a similar testimony. Are we finding that the Lord God is our strength in the midst of the challenges that take us time to overcome? It is exhausting when we try to deal with situations in our own strength. It is common to wait until we have come to the end of ourselves before we begin to look to the Lord. We hold to the saying that God helps those who help themselves. God does not need help. He wants us to put our trust in Him so that He can work things out so that He gets the glory. We do not always see it that way and summon our strength to deal with our challenges.
Habakkuk goes on to say that the Lord will make his feet like deer's feet. This means that he will be surefooted in places where it is difficult to walk. The ability of deer to walk in very treacherous terrain is well known. However for this to happen to us, we must be trusting in Him in our walk. He must be directing our footsteps so that even when the terrain is challenging, our feet will hold and not slip. Our submission must be total and we dare not look to the right or the left but straight ahead. We need to be careful not to be distracted by the work others are doing because we will be in danger of going off course and fall.
Habakkuk says that the Lord will also make his feet to walk on his high hills. The Lord will also make us walk on our high hills if we allow Him to guide our feet. These high hills represent obstacles placed in our way to block our progress. When we can walk on our obstacles, we will be able to go over them. This is not a quick fix but the Lord using our obstacles to teach us to keep trusting in Him and growing in all aspects of our Christian walk while overcoming our obstacles. Habakkuk was clearly not looking for the instantaneous removal of obstacles but was strong in faith that the Lord God will make him walk on his obstacles. Are we as confident as him? Let us begin to submit our lives to Him and put our faith in Him for He is the faithful and true.

Psalm 144:1David is blessing the Lord God who is his strength. David, although being a good fighter in the natural, still acknowledged that his strength came from the Lord. There were many instances when he was at his wits end, as it were, and in those times when his natural strength failed him, he experienced the strength of the Lord God upholding him. There were situations when he could not continue the fight in his own natural strength as the odds were not in his favour and he experienced the strength of the Lord enabling him to do supernatural feats. These happened so many times that the people began to honour him more than King Saul.
Although David was a very good soldier and well versed in the art of warfare, he acknowledged that the Lord God, who was his strength, also taught his hands to war and his fingers to fight. His skill and technique in wielding the sword and other weapons were not just in the realm of the natural. He attributes his skill and ability to the Lord God. How many of us do not give the Lord God the glory and honour for enabling our natural abilities to perform beyond the limits of the natural? Do we publicly take the glory for whatever was done and secretly give God the glory? Holy Spirit will quicken our natural senses and abilities to perform at an extraordinary level so that we will accomplish His will.
David also understood that the warfare was in two realms. One on the earth or in the natural and the other in the heavenly or the spirit realm. In the spiritual realm, David used worship and praise to God before any battle. He did not venture against an enemy before consulting God for directions. It is in the worship and praise that his hands and fingers came into use. He worshipped and praised God with his hands and fingers. We are too tired sometimes to lift our hands to worship Him and we expect Him to understand that. If we truly knew Him, we will not fail to lift our hands to Him as we allow Him to teach our hands to war and our fingers to fight. The battle is first won in the spirit realm and we then enforce the victory on earth or in natural realm. It is time we begin to submit our members to Him so that He can teach us how to battle and have the victory over the enemy.

2 Kings 11: 18Just as the people went in to the physical temple of Baal and destroyed it thoroughly, so today we need to destroy thoroughly the altars of Baal in our lives so that we may serve the true and living God in His temple which we are. He purchased us from the death sentence which was upon us, through our sin, with His own blood and made us sons of God. He has given us a new nature but we find that old nature still fighting against the new life that God has put into us. That old nature has its roots in the system of Baal.
Paul, the apostle found this out as he served God. He found the old nature was very present trying to make him do what he knew was not of righteousness (Romans 7). Today we excuse ourselves because we are human and subject to fail. But our nature is not to sin Rom 6:7 because we died in Jesus when He died on the cross. The altars of Baal in our lives did not all get dealt with when we accepted Jesus as our Saviour and Lord because they were established in our lives through various covenants - many of them made by our ancestors and which we may not even aware of. We therefore need to repent of these covenants and renounce them in our lives so that the altars which have been established will be destroyed totally. We do not wish to have these altars pulling us into sin now that we are sons of God.
This is a continuous activity as we need to call the covenant by name and not knowing the name may well delay our being free from its influence. Holy Spirit will reveal these altars/names to us as we allow Him to go deeper into our souls and we need to cooperate with Him in destroying them so that we will be free to serve the Lord in Spirit and in truth. He came to set the captive free and we are held captive by covenants which may or may not be of our own actions. God is revealing more today than ever before as His desire is to perfect us as His Bride, without spot or wrinkle. Our cooperation is vital and He depends on us for it as He will not force His will upon us.
