Daniel 2: 20-23
Daniel is extolling the Name of the Lord and we can take pattern. We need to bless the Lord at all times, let His praise be continually in our mouths. We need to acknowledge that He is the MIGHTY God, not a God among other gods. He is the only one- there is no other like Him. He changes the times and the seasons and at His will, He changes the rulers. He puts rulers in place for the good of His church to get the church ready for His coming. We have to know how to exercise the authority given to us in His Name that we might bring His kingdom into being.

He reveals the deep and secret things to us as we seek His face and purpose to do the work He has called us to do. There is nothing hidden from Him so He knows what is in the darkness. Light dwells in Him and He can expose all things that are in the darkness. Do we know this? Surely He wants to make hidden things known to us so that we will do the works of the kingdom with His knowledge and not what we think and what our imagination springs forth.

In vs 23 Daniel thanks God that He has given to Him wisdom and might. In vs 20 He says that wisdom and might are God's. So God wants to transfer His character to us and to make us more like Him so that we can show the world who He is and what He is like. He also thanks God for revealing what he wanted to know. God will not hold back from us anything that will support His kingdom ruling and reigning. He desires to show His power, wisdom and might through us but we need to acknowledge who He is and bless Him at all times. He has to exercise patience with us as His great love towards us constrains Him when we utterly reject Him and His will. What will we do today?

1 Chronicles 12:38
The men who wanted to make David king were men of war who could keep rank and were of a perfect heart. Jesus is already King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We however need to make Him King of our lives as well as King over our church and nation. Our behaviour plays a large part in declaring Him King. When we do not have a fear of God in our lives, He cannot be King there. When we do no fear God, how can anyone else fear Him? We need to know how to keep rank and not break away to do our own thing.

Many times the devil tempts us to break rank by not waiting on God and when we do so we prevent our blessings and the hand of favour working out everything for our benefit. It is crucial in these times that we do not break rank as we will weaken the place we are a part of and put ourselves outside the protection of God.

Our heart must be perfect and one with the cause of the kingdom of God. We cannot have an agenda other than God's. He is not interested in what is nice to do and what will look good. He is interested in seeing His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Are we of the same heart as He is? Are we one with Him so the devil has difficulty distinguishing us from Him? We need to have the same heart as David's men as we seek to serve the true and living God and we need to take heed that we do not step out of His perfect will. When this happens, we can wage war against the devil and his plans and see the kingdom of God be established in all things.

Ecclesiastes 5: 4-5
The dictionary defines vow as an oath made to God to perform some act on the fulfilment of certain conditions. When we asked Jesus to save us from the penalty and power of sin, we acknowledged Him as our Saviour and Lord. We usually do not have a problem with Him being Saviour as we really cannot save ourselves. But we vowed that if He saved us, we will let Him be Lord of our lives. Being Lord means that He will have first place in our lives and whatever He says we will do.

We are however challenged by our human nature which always wants to be in control. We know what He wants us to do from His Holy Word as well as from Holy Spirit as He speaks to us. But we are very much tuned to the voice of self and we do things which appeal to the flesh in that they satisfy our craving for comfort and pleasure. This means that as often we do not do what He desires us to do, we are not fulfilling our vow to Him as Lord. This means that we are breaking our vow to Him and are moving in rebellion and disobedience to Him.

Vs 5 goes on to say that it is better that we do not vow, than to vow and not pay it. We need to understand that if we do not keep our vow, we are opening ourselves up to the devil to have his way in our lives. Jesus has fulfilled His part of the agreement of saving us by sending Holy Spirit as the guarantee of His promise that we have eternal life. Are we keeping our side of the agreement? Have we done or are doing what He wants us to do and what we have agreed to do? Is He truly Lord of our lives every minute of the day? We need to repent if we are not fulfilling our vow and revisit the Cross of Calvary to check on the agreement made. As we reaffirm our vow and move in obedience, the devil will not be able to stop us as he will find nothing in us when he comes.
