1Samuel 17: 45, 47David recognised that the enemy was trusting in natural weapons- sword, spear and javelin. These are very real and can be used to defeat an opponent. But he also saw that his fight was not with conventional weapons. His most offensive weapon was the Name of the Lord. When we see what the enemy is doing to bring us down, what do we use against him? So many times we run to the Pastor or our friends for advice rather than come against him in the name of Jesus.
The devil uses natural weapons through those he is able to control so it appears as though they are against us. But behind it all is the devil.
We need to recognise the source of our problems. It is the devil. We cannot defeat him with natural weapons as he is a spirit. We need to use spiritual weapons against him and the key is the Name of Jesus as in this name all the power of heaven is invoked. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but they are mighty to the pulling down of strongholds which the devil uses against us. So while the Lord does not need swords, spears and javelins to defeat the enemy who is a spirit, He can still use natural things to gain the victory in the natural as David did using a slingshot and a stone to defeat a heavily armoured and armed enemy.
David declared that the battle was the Lord's but he had a part to play in the natural. Under the guidance of Holy Spirit, he took stones and a sling shot and used them against this mighty foe who stood before him. We cannot forget to do our part to gain the victory over the enemy which has already been wrought by the Lord of Hosts. King Saul tried to get David to use the natural armour and weapons but David listened to Holy Spirit and used the most unlikely weapons to gain the victory. Do we know what has been made available to us in the Name of Jesus? Victory is guaranteed to us if we put our trust in His Name and use it!

The PropheticAs we read the books of the major and minor prophets, we are confronted by these words 'then came the word of the Lord unto the prophet'. The prophet then proceeded to announce the words that the Lord sent to him. Those of us who move in the prophetic gifting know when the word of the Lord comes and for whom and we do our best to deliver it as we get it. However we are constantly challenged by the soul whenever the prophetic word comes and we have to exercise our faith in God that we deliver the word faithfully.
Fear is one of the main weapons used by the devil to prevent the prophetic word coming forth. Fear will cause the prophet to question the authenticity of the word and the word may not be given and if it is, it may well be distorted during its delivery. God has given us Holy Spirit to teach us and guide us and the more we learn to fully depend on Him, we will not succumb to the spirit of fear.
In the manifestation of every gift of the Holy Spirit, we need to present ourselves before Him in humility so that the soul will not rise to distract us. It is Holy Spirit Himself who decides which gift is to be manifested through us. He is well able to ensure that the manifested gift accomplishes the work that it was intended to do. He only needs the cooperation of the vessel He indwells to do mighty works to the honour and glory of God the Father and His Son Jesus.
To be used by Him is our heart's cry, but we are not willing to be crucified, sanctified and empowered by Holy Spirit. We need to put off the deeds of the old man otherwise we will limit what He can do through us and much to our dismay.
Let us humble ourselves before Him today and He will show Himself to be our mighty God through the manifestations that will come forth through us.

Matthew 12:25Jesus was giving a principle that we all understand in the natural. A family divided against itself will not stand against misfortune or wealth. A disorganised sporting team will certainly not be successful against an organised one. Jesus was telling the Pharisees that every kingdom divided against itself shall be brought to desolation. We do not see this happening in the church while we pull down and criticise each other. We believe that if we do that we will be more accepted by God.
It must grieve Holy Spirit every time we destroy a brother or sister with our words or by our actions. The kingdom of God does not stand for unrighteousness and unfaithfulness. So when we see it, we believe that we are guiltless of these very behaviours and begin to point them out to others. Should we take heed that if that is happening in the church of our Lord Jesus Christ, that in some way we might also be guilty of such behaviours? Our first reaction should be to pray for the person that they may see what is wrong in their life but in the same breath begin to see if there be any wicked ways in us.
The devil is scrutinising every believer to see where he can come in to destroy faith and love in the church of Jesus Christ. Every doorway that he sees open he will exploit to ensure that disunity will be manifested in the body of Jesus. We should not be too hasty to destroy or expose what we see. A better reaction will be to repent ourselves and seek, if possible, to get those who are unconsciously being used by the devil to repent and commit their lives to the true and living God. For in Him we live and move and have our being and we will stand if we seek to lose ourselves in Him.
